During the time of operating activities, “Merks” has built more than 90 houses and engineering constructions. The quality of the offered architectonic solutions, projecting and construction works has been appreciated by 58 customers of public buildings and production plants, by more than 840 tenants of apartments and private houses. “Merks” built engineering communications improve the life quality of many residents of Latvian cities and villages – in Jūrmala, Carnikava, Valmiera and Salacgrīva the residents now use clean water, drive along new, asphalted streets. Latvian residents every day cross the rivers over new bridges built by “Merks” in the whole country.

In the competitions organized by the Latvian Builders Association “Annual Best Building”, SIA Merks was awarded with the following prizes: In the Year 2007 competition in the nomination “Annual Best Building in Latvia 2007”, “Merks” got the second place for low-storied multi-apartment living houses construction district “Alreadynbiķeri”, as well as received the promotion prize for the Office House in Riga, Duntes iela 6; In the Year 2006 competition in the category “Newly-built House”, the winner was declared to be the living houses complex “Viesturdārza mājas”, but the second place was taken by the multi-functional hall “Arena Riga”; In the Year 2005 competition, the first place was won by “Merks” in the nomination “Newly-built House” with construction of Mitsubishi and Hyundai car dealing centre in Riga, Lielirbes iela; The best newly-built house in the Year 2004 competition was “Merks” projected and built first high-riser in the regained independent Republic of Latvia – Swedbank Central Building, called also the “Sun Stone”. The Latvian Architects Association has highly evaluated the work of “Merks” by giving an award to our built RIMI supermarket on Krišjāņa Valdemāra street in the year 2003, which was praised as the annual best reconstructed public newly-built house in the Latvian architecture.

In the competition “Annual Construction Engineer in Latvia 2009”, already for the second year in succession prizes go to SIA “Merks” employees. In the nomination “Annual Project Manager in Latvia 2009”, the winner was admitted to be SIA “Merks” Project Manager Jānis Doniņš as one of the most experienced project managers, an award of recognition in this nomination was gained by SIA “Merks” Project Manager Ivo Brālēns. In the nomination “Annual Construction Works Manager in Latvia 2009”, the winner was admitted to be Maksims Momots, an award of recognition was gained by Dmitrijs Jansons. SIA “Merks” for the second year in succession received a prize in the competition “Most Productive Staff Forge”.

Piled foundations, monolithic reinforced concrete grillage. Main walls of living houses in the 1st-14th stories are made of monolithic reinforced concrete, in the 15th-24th stories – from prefabricated reinforced concrete. External walls of houses are made from prefabricated reinforced concrete three-layer panels with stone cotton isolation heating. Monolithic reinforced concrete coverings between the stories. The building of car parking lots: column/riegel body, monolithic reinforced concrete covering plate. The main walls separating apartments from the corridor are made of monolithic reinforced concrete, partition walls of apartment – of light-metal body, mineral cotton filling and double-layer gyps carton sheets. Ceilings in all stories are of monolithic concrete, their height – 2.70 m. Each apartment has a balcony or terrace. Advantage of terraces is closed and partially-closed glazing systems – tieback glass walls, which permit to open the terrace fully in the warm weather of the year.

Bathrooms and shower premises have heated floors with thermal regulator. For heating in apartments, steel batteries with thermal regulators have been set up. Ventilation is provided by forced suction ventilation system in sanitary points and kitchens, but in the living premises there is an additional fresh air inflow system built. Fully built apartment’s electricity installation and lighting network. Each apartment has hot and cold water meters, fixed telephone networks, cable TV, internet connection, security system installation and extension to the watchman’s phone. The building has a centralized heating system. All apartments have inbuilt cables for security alarm.

Interior of cohabited premises is made in light tones, which creates a feeling of spacious room and cleanness. Entry lobby is made in a contrasting black and white match, which is enlivened by wooden veneered parts. SIA “Merks” is one of the rare real property developers that carries out itself the whole development process of new properties starting from projecting and construction and finishing with sales and transfer of keys to the new owner. Therefore SIA “Merks” can fully assume liability for the performed work over two years’ period since putting of the object into operation.
